BURGER KING/MCLAMORE FOUNDATION CONTINUES

NATIONAL RESTAURANT FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

9/7/05

The Burger King/McLamore Foundation is continuing its annual "Funding Futures with Fries and Drinks" national restaurant promotion to raise college scholarship funds for graduating high school seniors in local communities. The promotion will launch Sept. 19 and run through Oct. 31. The Coca-Cola Company is a Burger King/McLamore Foundation partner in this philanthropic initiative.

More than 2,400 BURGER KING® restaurants will offer Treat Sheets to restaurant guests for $1 to raise funds for Burger King Scholars awards. Treat Sheets consist of eight coupons for BURGER KING® and Coca-Cola® products, including fries, hash browns, fountain drinks, ICEE® and Frozen Coke®, totaling more than $8 in value.

"With the cost of higher education continuously on the rise, high school graduates are turning increasingly to loans and part-time employment," said Sherry Ulsh, executive director of the Foundation. "Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden students experience."

The fundraiser generates more than $1.3 million per year for the Foundation’s Burger King Scholars Program and has been a Halloween-themed tradition at BURGER KING® restaurants for seven years. The Burger King Scholars Program awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who maintain at least a 2.5 GPA throughout high school and work part-time due to financial need.

As an added benefit to customers, the Burger King/McLamore Foundation will offer the opportunity to purchase Treat Sheets online throughout the promotion at www.bk.com. Learn more about the Burger King/McLamore Foundation and the Burger King Scholars Program at www.bkmfoundation.com.
