ALEX SALGUIERO Alex was born in Havana, Cuba. He immigrated to Miami, Florida in 1960 with his family where he grew up. He attended public school through graduation and later received an AA degree from Miami Dade Community College. Alex began his career with Burger King in 1970 while in high school as part time employee. Upon graduation from high school he was offered a management position, which he accepted. Through a scholarship from Burger King Corporation he worked full time and attended college. During his seventeen-year career with Burger King Corporation he held many positions, the most interesting being in International Franchising. In this position, he developed and opened Burger King restaurants in several countries including England, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Venezuela, Columbia, Panama, Ecuador, Aruba, Grand Cayman and Puerto Rico. In 1981 he re-located to Atlanta, Georgia and became the Area Manager of the Atlanta Region until he retired from Burger King Corporation in 1986. While in Atlanta, he met and married his wife, Fonda Maulden from Montgomery, Alabama. On June 1, 1986 they moved to Savannah to become Burger King franchisees. Alex and his partner William deLaet bought the seven local Burger King restaurants from Burger King Corporation. Alex's partner, Mr. DeLaet passed away in June of 1991 at which time Alex became the sole owner of Savannah Restaurants Corporation. Alex currently owns and operates twelve restaurants in Savannah, Richmond Hill, Hinesville, Rincon, and Statesboro, Georgia. Alex and Fonda have two daughters named Juliet and Alexis. They spend their free time on their boat enjoying the local waters and fishing as often as they can. They live at The Landings on Skidaway Island and are members of The Landings Club. Fonda is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and Computer Sciences. She works with Alex at Savannah Restaurants Corporation as Controller and C.F.O. This helps to keep the business in the family and allows for Alex and Fonda to spend a lot of time together. RETURN |
