Burger King® Restaurants Nationwide Raise More Than $1.2 Million For Muscular Dystrophy Association

May 13, 2009

Miami – May 13, 2009 – The HAVE IT YOUR WAY® Foundation and more than 2,300 BURGER KING® restaurants in the U.S. teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for the 2009 "Crowns For a Cure" promotion which raised over $1.2 million to benefit MDA.

The BURGER KING® system has been a long time supporter of MDA through in-restaurant promotions, which have raised a total of $4.9 million for the organization.

"The BURGER KING® system has built a strong relationship with MDA over the years and we're so grateful for their support," said MDA President & CEO Gerald C. Weinberg. "Their desire to boost their level of giving through "Crowns for A Cure" means a lot to our research program, especially at this time. We look forward to having BURGER KING® join us at this year's Jerry Lewis Telethon on Labor Day Weekend," he added.

Guests that visited participating BURGER KING® restaurants during the promotion were able to show their support for MDA by making a $1 or $5 donation to receive a green or gold crown. In select markets, restaurants offered coupons in return for guest donations. All proceeds collected benefit the local MDA offices where the funds were raised.

"We are happy to have teamed up and raised money for such a great organization," said Executive Director of the HAVE IT YOUR WAY® Foundation, Ivette Diaz. "Through our in-restaurant promotions, we hope to continue to help MDA with their worldwide research efforts and nationwide programs."
